BAPTIST CONFERENCE.
(By Telegraph.-—Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, Thursday. The Baptist conference met this morning, when matters connected with foreign missions were dealt with. The report or the treasurer stated that while the year opened with a debit of £358, this had been wiped off, the year closing with a credit balance of £108, the receipts being £3,102 18/11, and the expenditure £2,994 13/6. The sum of £181 14/6 was forwarded to the Baptist Church ot Russia to help in building a church in St. Petersburg. The report was adopted. The following officers of the Missionary Union were Rev. J. K. Archer; treasurer, Mr. A. Hoby; auditors, Messrs. C. Godber, sen., and T. Wilson; missionary preacher, Rev. H. B. Hughes, M.A.; deputy-preacher, Rev. D. S. Mason. At the afternoon session it was resolved, " That an aggregate sum of £125 be added to the salaries of workers in India, in order to bring them up to those paid by the British Missionary Society."
