KATOA IN, PORT. .... J The Union Co.'s new steamer Katoa. arrived at Auckland tills morning from Bunbury, via Wellington, after a fast- passage from the Southern port.' "during which ■an average speed of 12 knots was maintained. The Kotoa is a sturdy-looking vessel, and is thoroughly' up-to-date, with, modern devices for the stowage and ■handling of cargoes. The Katoa left Mlddlesbnrough on "May 251, for Australian ports with a cargo of railway iron. The cargo shifted during the voyage, necessitating a call at Las Palmasi The steamer was built by Messrs Osbourne, Graham and Co.. at-Hyleton, and has been constructed to take Msraest class at British Corporation. She is the fifth steamer built by this firm for the Union Company, and is of the single-deck type, with poop, bridge, and forecastle, having absolutely clear holds, and is of the latest principle of construction throughout.
