Mr Selby, an accountant, residing at Italwrn (a suburb of Melbourne), -was roused by a noise, which proved to have been caused by a burglar. The burglar was chased by Mr Selby into the yard, where a severe struggle ensued. The intruder stabbed Mr Selby in the back and escaped. Mr Sp.lby'?. wound is not serious, but he was greatly weakened by {he loss of blood.

An overcoat, left behind bx the burglar afforded a. clue upon which the police have arrested a youth named Gibson on suspicion.
