Lewisthe sole Sonth African representative — started two minntea after the first man, and quickly overhauling the leader went ont in front by himself and remained "there until the finishing post was reached, he winning with eleven minutes to spare. The dis° tanee was 192J miles. The winner's performawe was a remarkable, one. for he had groups of riders—assisting each other by —chaein;? hinvfchrougbout the contest; but the South African was too superior. I/ewjs rode a Dunlop-shod Swift lacyele, and had neither machine nor tyre troubles. The team prize' was carried off iby a splendid team of Swedes, England filling second place, with America third. The French and German representatives made a. very poor showing.
