THE NEW SYLVIA STRIKE.

(By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) THAMES, this day. The recent strike at the New Sylvi* mine, when the men knocked off because one of the Wafhi engine-drivers was taken on, is being investigated by Mr. Gohns, the Inspector of Awards, who came down from Auckland for the purpose. The same trouble arose at Karangahake a fortnight before, and when he has investigated the Thames matter, Mr. Gohns will proceed to the former district and look into that question also. It will depend on his report whether prosecutions will follow.
