The weather was delightful, but there was only a small attendance. The wicket was good. The remaining four of the combined counties added 49. Bird mis-hit and was taken in the slips. He hatted 210 minutes, and hie innings was characterized by brilliant driving and lejr hitting. He bit seventeen fours. The innings lasted 38.1 minutes. The Australians in their second venture performed poorly. Emery was ahsent. The. best partnership was that of Macartney and Bardsley. who added 77 for the third wicket. Bardsley and Kellewav added 35 for the fourth, and Bardeley and Minnett added .11 for the fifth. They scored fast, including 15 in . the over off Hitch, Minnett contributing 11.
