Zealandia .ii ..iN'.klstird this morning from Vanc-ou-\i-r. lit I lie Islands, a first-class passenger mimed William Greenland was arrest•■■l mi ,i charge of having stolen £36 of themonens of the Fiji Fruit Company, at Suva, of which he was secretary. He was brought lie.fore the Police Court, and reminded for a week pending 1 .the arrival of uippr< and escort from Fiji to take him back to Suva to meet the charge. Greenland was accompanied on the boat l>v his wife, they having booked to Sydney. Mr "A". Ilackett- appeared at .the court for accused, a'.id applied for bail. He stated that Greenland and hi* wife were on their way to Sydney for a holiday, and hail iiad e.veiry intention of returning thereafter to Suva. Counsel added that the matters which formed the . subject of the charge would probably be explained meantime by wireless, enabling the charge to be withdrawn. Bail was recrnested, and was fixed at one surety of £200, in addition to accused's own bond for that amount.
