LONDON DOCK STRIKE.

LEADERS CALL IT OFF. MEN REFUSE TO RESUME. GUARANTEES ASKED FOR. (By Cable.—Press Association.— LONDON", July 28. The Cockers' Strike Committee has unanimously declared that the strike shall end, and has recommended the immediate resumption of work. The committee has issued a manifesto declaring that it h i strenuously endeavoured for ten weeks to promote a settlement by conciliatory action, but the men resanted the employers' harsh impositions and manner, and this lifted the dispute to an heroic level. The capitalists' most powerful weapon, starvation, was used remorselessly, but despite this and other sinister methods used by the Employers' Committee, the men's courage and devotion to trade unionism, and the workipg-clas3 solidarity must be recognised. Every reasonable means of conciliation are exhausted, and the committee determined upon the present course rather than accept abject humiliation. The manifesto adds that all agreements prior to the dispute must be main ! tamed entirely. Tbe employers' persiati ent refusal to settle the dispute, or to act with reason, indicated designs upon the Transport Workers' Federation and various other unions, but the loyalty of the men shown during the tragic struggle must be maintained at all costs. i, Received 1.20 p.m.) LOXDOX, July 28.
