(By Cable.— Association.—Copyright.)

(Received 11.15 a.m.) STOCKHOLM, July 12. Atkinson (Britain, and formerly of New Zealand) was unplaced in tbe final of the 200 metres breast stroke championship. The Americans again predominated yesterday in most of the preliminary rounds. Goulding (Canada) won the 10,000 metres (about 6\ miles) walk in In 7m 37 2-ss. Italy won the gymnastic display. Great Britain being third. Mr. Thomas, ex-president of the Oxford University Athletic Club, in a letter to the "Daily Mail," caustically criticises the British team at Stockholm. Other nations, he says, regard the Olympic Games seriously. The Americans have won remarkable and unprecedented victories by determination and sheer merit. England's incompetency, Mr. Thomas says, is largely due to the lack of organisation.
