Charles Bribers, editor of the '-Mount (Morgan Argus,"' stating that he noticed in an Auckland paper that the gold duty accruing to the Waihi borough amounted to 'JE'l<s,ooo per annum. He felt sure that the Mount Morgan people, would be interested ito know: bow the municipal funds benefited to such an extent. In Queensland they had only got a rate based on land surface value from gold mines, irrespective of the value of the minerals or production. The necessary information was forward by the town clerk to Mr. Brigga, who was one of the Australasian Press delegates recently touring Sew Zealand, and who is writing tip an account of the tour. Just now, however, there is no gold duty.
