A point affecting half life insurance policies in New Zealand was raised toil, -v in :i he Supreme Court case of Thompson vi'rsus Blytnc. Defendant was ben ficiary in her late son's estate, consisting wholly of -an endowment policy maturing at the age of 60. Plaintiff, to whom deceased owed £IS, sued for this amount. .Mr. Mackay argued, 'for the defendant. '.bat the policy was protected. Mr. Treadwell (for plaintiff) contended that, the protection should not ajpply. as the policy was not on the whole life. .Mr. Justice Cooper reserved his decision, but stated that at present he 'thought Ibe policy was protected by the Act. However, the point needed careful consideration.
