EAST WARD. * AUCKLAND EDUCATION BOARD. • Gentlemen, — In offering myself as a Candidate for -the above Ward, it is necessary to express some of my views on educational •matters, and though thoroughly appreciating the good work done in the past, consider that more should be attempted towards fostering the Industry from which 90 per cent of our wealth Is derived, and therefore the trend of our educational system should be f to Inculcate a love for rural pursuits, and ■fills, in my opinion, can best be accomplished by training and assisting our young •teachers to acquire a knowledge of Agricul- ' ture. Besides holding the Master of Arts Degree, Dublin University, specialising In Natural Science. 1 have had lonj: experience In teaching, tlrst In England, and afterwards in the Dominion, and, whilst - teaching at the Thames, passed through the g various courses at the School of Mines. * This training, and having held the position of headmaster in the Whangarei High , School, and also in Colleges of Wanganul i and Cbrrstchurch, together with 14 years of farming, lead mc to believe that 1 can conscientiously solicit your vote, and, i" elected, would direct my energies on the lines here suggested, and in obtaining equitable -administration and equal opportunities to all. 1 R. To empower the Trustees to \ expend so much of the money by the said Will directed to be set " apart for the purpose of bringing boys from Ulster, in Ireland, to be pupils of the said Institute as shall not be required for snch purpose in and for the support and h training of boys resident In the Provincial District of Auckland, and to use in hbe suw way money already accumulated under the direction aforesaid, but still unex- * ponded. 0 7. To give the Trustees power to give f if they think fit renewable leases. 8. To empower -the Trustees to admit boys to any Industrial Branch of the said Institute up to the age of fourteen years.
