KING'S TOUR OF ENGLAND.
IN THE MINING VILLAGES. AN UNDERGROUND INSPECTION WIELDING A HEWER'S PICK. LONDON*. July 10. During the tour of King George and Queen Mary in Yorkshire, at His Majesty's request no addresses or bouquets have been presented, and thorp has been as little ceremonial as possible. The King desires to see how his subjects live and work. The tour of the mining villages has already covered 40 miles. The Union ■Tack was flying at the mouth of nearly every pit and shaft, and everywhere the utmost loyalty and enthusiasm was dis- ' payed. The King's visit to the Flsecar mine was the first instance of a British monarch descending a colliery. The King was lowered 350 yds in 595. His Majesty proceeded for half-a-mile underground, and, borrowing a pick, hewed a quantity of coal, keeping some pieces as mementoes. The King was below 40 minutes.
