MB. FISHER WAHTS TO TIGHTEN IT. (Received ILIS a.m.) MELBOURNE, this day. Speaking in the House of Representatives, Mr. Fisher characterised some of the comments in a Melbourne paper as a wilful perversion of what be stated in his speech, and added: "I think the time must soon come when these writers "will "be compelled to disclose who they are."
Six proprietors of the "Argus" were toisay each fined 20/ and £6 6/ coste for publishing an unsigned article commenting on the recent Wirriw*. by election and the candidates in contravention of the new Electoral Act. The case-was the first of its kind to be heard. The defendants have intonated that they intend to appeal to the High Court. •
