MDBITAI PICO- LONDON. ■The Tyser steamer Muri_i, _—a London, -via Melbourne and Sydney; arrived in the stream this morning, and heEtbed aljoot 10-30 at the Railway wharf, where she was (boarded by the port heal th. officer. The Mur_ll, which tarings about 2000 tons of general cargo for this port, left Dover on May 4, and, after meeting with, light southerly winds, passed Las Painlas on May 10 ami crossed 4_e line on May 16. In the run to the Cape very thick weather with frequent fogs was experienced. From the Cape onwards the vessel had an exciting experience, meeting at first with heavy co—--easterly gales. These increased in fierceness and were accompanied by mountainous seas. The vessel was flung about in all directions, and the officers and crew kept their feet with d_neulty. Great volumes of water ponred on to the decks incessantly, but fortunately no damage was done, aud the only person injured' was the third officer who sprained his ankle. Squalls of hurricane intensity were frequently encountered and the bitter cold which prevailed right through the run made the experience a trying one for all hands. Tie Muritai rode out the gale remarkably well, making the passage from London to Melbourne In the short time of thirty-nin<> days. She reached Melbourne on June 17. and Sydney on the 19th, making the passage across the Tasman Sea in four days thirteen and a-half hours, the weather being moderate. Captain Firth in in command, his officers being: First, Mr. B. Sberrbrgton; second, Mr. L H. Swan: third, Mr. F. W. Williams; fourth. Mr. F. Rigden; chief engineer, Mr. Chappell; second, Mr. Bewers; third, Mr. Corlett; fourth. Mr. Smart: fifth, Mr. Henderson: chief refrigerating engineer. Mrl Grey: second, Mr. Smith. On completing, "her discharge here, the Mnritai leaves for Napier and Wellington to put out the rest of her London cargo.
