OUR WOOL AND ITS IMPROVEMENTS.

Although much good work has been done by the holding of classes in the various'centres to give the rising gelation of farmers instruction in the handling of this important product, there are many of the older farmers who do not care or would find it difficult to attend and the Hon. Mr Mackenzie and Ine Department under his charge have felt that better and more 2 encvally effective instructions could he given by utilising the existin- machinery of the Department. With this object an view a series ol classes is to be held in different centres of the Dominion, where the field officers will receive instruction from a thoroughly expert wool-buyer, who has made a study of wool production from every point 'of view. Many of these officers have a good -working knowledge of wool, but it is considered that even they would benefit by being brought in touch with a thoroughly expert wool man. We understand classes are being held at seven of the larger centres and arrangements made, for all officers to attend. The Minister and the head of the live stock division feel —and rightly so we believe —that by discussions on the Subject with farmers as the officers go round their districts, they will be able to lead them to improve their methods and that much general and permanent benefit will resuft from this plan.
