Some delay still exists in the location oi tlie junction -with the Gisborne-'Motu branch, owing to the rival claims of Kind's Road and Makaraka routes. Xgatapa should prove an important centre, as several roads converge there, e.g., tc Ormond. Otoko, Tahora. Rakauroa, etc. The engineers are to be congratulated on the excellent progress that is being made.
