BUTTER AND MEAT EXPORTS.
SPACE ON STEAMEBS. DEPUTATION TO UNION COMPANY. (By TelegTaph.—iPress Association.) WELLINGTON, this day. A deputation representing butter exporters to Canada waited on Mr. Kennedy (managing director of the Union S.S. Company) yesterday with reference to allotments of refrigerating space. They pointed out that tbey were apprehensive lCst there should be a repetition of last season's experiences, when orders had to be refused from Canada for butter on account of insufficient space being available. They also feared that Australian speculators in space might leave insufficient for New Zealand, and explained that it was impossible to guarantee to (ill space f-ix or eightmonths ahead.
Mr. Kennedy replied that he would refer the matter to the head oflice.
Cabled information received from the Londou representative of the North Island freezing companies states that a conference held there of those interested in the trade? decided to provide the necessary facilities for expeditiously handling frozen meat at the new Albert Docks site. Work is now proceeding in providing an extension of frontage and other operations necessary to place the scheme in operation.
