He growth, of 'business of the port of Auckland may be gathered from the fact that during the last ten. yeare the income of the Annldand Harbour Board has more than doubled. This more than justifies the expenditure undertaken a few years ago to improve the -wharf accommodatian.
The increase of cases of diphtheria in and around Chiistdrurch is somewhat striking, as disclosed by a return covering a period of ten yeaxs recently presented to the Christebarrch Hospital Board. Lα 1902 there -were 24 cases of diphtheria reported, and in ISUI that number had more than quadrupled. There, was also- a noticeable increase in tuberculosis, last year 6& cases having been notified.
