NEW LYNN SCHOOL.

SITE FOR NEW BUHIHNG. A farther meeting of householders of New Lynn was held in the Congregational Hall last evening, about 140 people being present. Mr. Margan was elected to the chair. i In opening the meeting the chairman [said that it would be necessary to elect a sub-committee to take what steps might be deemed necessary to have the new school erected on the site as already promised by the Auckland Education Board. It was decided, as the meeting was to discuss two important matters, that householders only should be allowed to vote. The following were elected rommitteemen:— Messrs. Margan, Jackson. Parker, Oreen, Morgan and (rajdiner. Several householders 3poke in support of the movement, and pointed out that should the school be built on the old education reserve, it would be against I the best interests of the district. On the motion of the chairman, seconded by Mr. Morsau, it was decided: '"That this meeting of householders publicly protests against the action of the New Lynn School Committee in their endeavour to have the promised school building transferred from the new site to the old education reserve." The motion was submitted to hallot, and the voting resulted: 86 tor the- motion, l> against, informal 2. Amidst applause the motion was declared carried. A lengthy discussion ensned as to the advisability of asking the .committee to resign, an:l :t resolution was moved by Mr. Oreen to tha.i rflVt. The ■ hairman pointed out that he did not think it would be advisable to go to extremes, as the committee was elected by the people of the district, and it. was only right that Uitwe serving on it should complete their term of office. He s-aid it was not altogether a. matter affecting the committee so much as a question of the site; and, seeing that the meeting had appointed n sub-committee to go into the question, he thought it advisable to leave it in their hands. The resolution was accordingly winhdrfcwn. the meetin-g terminabing with a vote of thanks to the chair.
