NATIONAL INSURANCE.
LONDON, May 13. The Duke of Northumberland has resigned the presidency of the National Deposit Friendly Society, because he says the National Insurance Act has completely changed the position of such societies. He states that he views the Government's interference in this matter with jealousy and suspicion. THE N.S.W. PROPOSAL.. ODDFELLOWS' PROTEST. (Received 9.30 a jn.) SYDNEY, this day. The Manchester Unity Oddfellows' conference entered a strong protest against the Government proposal to introduce compulsory insurance.
