WRECK OF A SCHOONES.
I Information was received by the Union Co.'s steamer Talune, which arrived from the Cook and Society Islands last evenin"- that the three-masted schooner G. W?" Watson was wrecked at Raiatea on April 5. Die Watson had discharged lumber from Paget Sound at Raiatea and I was proceeding outwards for San Fran-1 I cisco when she grounded on a reef. After j | some time she was floated off, but was , ; found to be making water so fast. that. , ; the captain decided to return to port.! Before reaching the passage, however,' i the vessel became unmanageable, and. I striking a reef seven miles outside, set-j ! tied down and became a total wreck. ( I The captain and his wife and the crew ; ' nurr.bering seven succeeded in getting j ashore. The G. W. Watson was a wood- ; Sen schooner of 453 tons, and was built I [in 1800. . - J
