Renter's Pekin correspondent states that there are growing indications that Tang-shao-yi (the Chinese Premier) is endeavouring to assume the practice of a dictatorship, and to relegate Yuan-shih-kai (the President of the Republic) to the background. Tang-sbao-yi, it is stated, demands to be supplied with unlimited funds with nominal supervision. Shen-yuan, the fanatical Kansu leader, is assuming a bellicose attitude. The native Press declares that he beheaded his son for professing republicanism.
