The Invereargill gas works affords an object lesson in the advantage gained by replacing old methods and antiquated machinery with the most up-to-date that can be obtained. Three years a**o tho improvements effected cost £7000, and by the end of the present month exactly, that amount will have been saved in the cost of production. In effect the new works have paid for themselves in three years The gas consumption of the borough has doubled within four yean.
