BOARD'S STOCK OF COAL. The engineer, ln reporting that the supply of coal at Calliope Dock was getting low, recommended that tenders should be Invited for tie supply and delivery of 10)0 tons of coal at the wharf. Calliope.

Mr Braduey expressed the opinion that the calling of tenders for a supply of coal would bring the Board Into legal conflict with the present contractors. L'ltimately it was decided to leave the matter in the hands of the chairman, with, the idea of securing further stocks in the manner he considered best-

WATER CHARGES. The Chairman stated that he propose- 1 asking the City Council to revise its system of charging the Board for water. The Council made a charge for a minimum of 10,000 gallons per consumer, but at present the Board had several metere, aad the minimum was charged on each, although some only registered 4000 or 3000 gallous consumption. It seemed only fair that the Board should be treated as a single cc_sumor and charged on tbe aggregate amount supplied. The Chairman's suggestion was endorsed. NO RECOMMENDATION. Tbe special committee set up to Inquire Into the administration of the Harbour Department, reported that it had no recommendation to make. The Chairman explained that It had been considered that, the harbourmaster being fully competent, there was no necessity for an inquiry. The report was adopted.
