NEW FERRY OFFICE.
I REPORT OP THE HARBOUR BOARD'S C6M3iITTEE. The Iferry Traffic Committee set up by the Hacbour Board to deal with the question of office end fcerthago accommodation for the two ferry companies made its report to the Board this afternoon. With regard to the Devonport Steam. Ferry Company, the committee recommended: — (a) " TLat the Devonport Steam Ferry Co. bo notified that the offices in the ferry l-uilding will probably be ready in three months' time, upon which date the Board will request them to assume occupancy; and that m view of the fact that fiio wharfage accommodation at Queen-street wharf, etc., vrill I not be completed ior about eighteen months, they may in the meantime continue in occupation of their offices on No. 2 jetty; the rental of £0 per week to be an inclusive rciital for all accommodation on the fouth side of the harbour." (b) " That the rental for accommodation on Victoria wnarf be foO per annum." i (c) "That upon the company entering ! into possession of the new oflicee, tliu ! present ticket oflirc on Northeote Ferry jetty be removed." {&) "That the company bo notified 1 that the liourd is unable (without sub- ] mitting the sumr to public auction) to ! grant a leane of tho premises allotted to ' them in tho ferry buildings." • The committee decided that it could . not deal with v request from the company for the provision of buffer piles I in the berths allottini to it, ac the mat- | ter was outside the committee's order ol reference. i .Respecting the Takapuna Tramwaye I and Ferry Company tho committee re- | commended: — (a) "That the previous decision as to the berth* to be allotted to the Takapun*. Tramways and Ferry Co. be adto," and (b) " That in view of the decrcabed area allotted to the Takapuna Tramways and" Ferry Co., tho rental be reduced to £2 7/0 per week."
