Already the try of the ekempJoyed is heard down South. Tbe secretary of the General labourers' ijnion -in Dunedin predict* ?. bad time this winter for the casual labourer in and arotmd Dunedin. Last week thirty men -were dismissed from the Mosgiml Duplication ■Works and sixty others mere shortly to follow. In the course of a week or co some fifty men who hare been employed by the City Council will 'he discharged, certain works now searing completion. When approached on the subject of finding employment for these men, the Hon. J. A. Millar said he did not know where che money was to come from to nnablo him to do much. A number of men from Oamaru have reached Dunedin in search of work, and there are likely to be others when the harvest is completed. It is the general belief in Dunedin that the industrial crisis, at Home is sure to react upon industries in New. Zealand. The secretary of the Labourers' Union predicts a sorry time for some months! ahead for casual labourers in the Southern city.
