Further evidence has been collected- by the Minister for Works of New South Wales (Mr. Griffith) an to State-made bricks l>e!ing easily turned out at £1 a thousand or less. He informed a press representative that Mr. Frank Oakden, general manager of a New Zealand linM' and cement company, who has been inspecting sites for the proposed State, cement, works, has had a great deal W do with briek manufacturing, and being interested in the Government works he spent half a day at the mrecently. "Before leaving for New Zealand," said Mr. Griffith, "he informed mo that he regarded the Government brick works at Horn-bush Bay as the best laad out he had ever seen, and that he would fce very glad as a commercial transaction to purchase them to-morrow at twice what they had cost the Government. He also told mo he had gone carefully into the •charges with Mr. Hutton, and could not sec, making liberal allowance for sinking fund and renewals, ho wthe bricks were going to cost tho Government £ 1 per thousand. At the most liberal computation thev must come under that -price."
