KEW ZEALAND'S SPOILS. GRAND PRIZES GALORE. (From Our Special correspondent.) LONDON, November 10. New Zealand exhibitors at the Festival of Empire -which recently closed its doors cannot complain- that they have come empty away. The judges have simply showered grand prizes, diplomas of honour and gold, silver and bronzn medals on them. The Xew Zealand Government bad no ■fewer than 28 grand prizes awarded for exhibits staged by the Departments of Agriculture, Labour, 1*01)110 Works, Mines, and Tourists, wiUst tfotrr grand prize.-*, a diploma, of honour, and 28 gold meda Is have fallen to private exhibitors. ■ The Government received a grand prize for the collective exhibit, and the. Agricultural Department-17 grand prizes for individual exhibits of fnrit, jams, honey, wine, hops, cereals, bemp and tow. frozen poultry, dairy produce, frozen meats, hams and bacons, wool i and skins, preserved milk, frozen rah-' Ibits and hares, leaiherware and aoo-p and candles. To the Department of X/aibouris exhibit of photographs, sta-' tistical charts, etc.. a grand prize was awarded: three more fell to the lot of - the Public Works Department for displays of timber, .building' stone, fireclay, bricks and tiles, and the Department of Mines scored with its fine collection of minerals. Five grand prizes were secured by the Tourist Department for the exhibits of natural mineral waters, trophies of the chase, paintings of New Zealand scenery, photographic view?, and handbooks and literature.

Among the private exhibits which receiver! grand prizes were the MosgieJ Woollen Company's display of rugs, the ~Saw Zealand Shipping €onrpany J s model of steamships, the dress-cutting charts of Miss L. Roberts, of Christchurch, and the. coal exhibit of the WestpoTt Coal Company. Mr. J. H. Beamish, of Auckland, received a diploma of honour foT hj» show of patent prismatic roofing, and gold medals fell to the following firms:— Atlas Biscuit and Confectionery Co., biscuits and confectionery; Anlsebrook and Co., biscuits and confectionery; Canterbury Roller Flour Mills, flour; Christcluirch Meat Co., preserved meats, oleo, and tallow ; Colonial -Sugar Refining Co., sugar: Kwing Phosphate Co., 1.4*1., mineral phosphate; Gear Meat Co., Ltd., wool, tallow, canned meat; Hanoock and Co., Ltd.. mineral waters, ale and stout; IT. T. Hayward, inlaid table tops and trays; S. Kirkpatrick and Co., Ltd., preserved vegetables, sauces, etc.; Mllinirn Lime and Cement Co., Ltd., cement and limestone; Murrays, Ltd.. condensed milk: H. A. Neilsen, artistic and general hair work, greenstone jewellery, and lapidary work; J. Newton and Son, Ltd.. soap; New Zealand Leather Co., leather; New Zealand Candle Co., Ltd., Sperm candles; Nieol and Sons, flour: Speight and Co., Ltd., ale and stout; Thompson and Co.. aerated mineral "waters, cordials and natural mineral waters; C. Tilbnni (Dnncdin), dining table of mottled kauri; Timani Milling Co., Ltd.. flour and oatmeal; 'Warnock Bros., soap and soap extract: Wood Brothers, Ltd., flour, meal, and semolina. Silver medals were awarded to Mr. T. E. Donne for a collection of Maori carvings: to the "Claxo" Company, of Wellington, for their specialty: to the Wellington Woollen Company- for their exhibit of woollen goods: to Mr. .Tames Whinjay, of Gisborne, for a sideboard made of New Zealand woods; and to Mr. James Williamson, of for a fiddle and case. Bronze medals fell to Mr. W. G. Fofte.r, of Wellington, for his exhibit of frozen rainbow trout, and to Mr. H. W. Kirkwood, of Wanganui, for oil paintings of New Zealand scenery. Finally Mr. F. R. Brown, of the Otago Art Society, received honourable mention for an oil painting.
