Mr. Jackson said the company had spent. £12,750 in development work. Frotection was absolutely needed to raise sufficient capital to proceed, but. in view oV the labour unrest thrmißliont the world , and other difficulties, it. was impossible to accomplish that at the present time. Chnrlcs Rhodes (managing director) said in evidence that if the application were refused no more sever blow could be given to the mining industry in the district. Mr. McT/erman oaTled no evidence, hut eross-evamined Mr. Khodes as to the disposal of the share capital. The warden said he was satisfied that real bona fide work had been done, and it was evident that the company had .xrnie to the end of its tether, and was compelled .to consider its position. lie referred to 1 the enormous expenditure necessary in ' ! local mining development.
