ASSOCIATION MATCHES.
CUP COMPETITIONS. BVBRTON AND PONSONBY QUALIFY FOR THE FINAL. The semi-finals of the cup competitions were played at Eden Park on Saturday afternoon, when Everton beat North Shore by 4 goal* to two, and Ponsonby accounted for Carlton by five goals to nil. IVnsouby and Everton will play off in the final on Saturday next. During the second half of the Everton-Shore match, a player of the latter team was ordered off the neld for alleged rough play. When the player reached the touch-line, he appeared to be Involved in a stand-up fight with a spectator, but peace was restored before any serious trouble was reached. Following are particulars of the games:— PONSONBY V. CARLTON. Ponsonby pressed at the start, and narrowly missed scoring. Then Carlton got into their stride, and made two or three attempts on the Ponsonby goals without result. Ponsonby settled down, and as the result of a scramble in front of the goal the bail was sent into the net. Ponsonby «. Carlton . 0 From the kick-off, there was even play to the end of the spell, but no further score resulted. On resumption of play, Ponsonby had all the best of it. and netted four additional goals, thus securing an easy victory. Tatton scored two goals, and Marshall two. The game ended as follows: Ponsonby _. -„._„.. 5 Carlton . Mr Cassin was referee. EVERTON V. NORTH SHORE. Play throughout tie first half was even, and the spell arrived with the score one all. Brewer scoring for Everton and Wallace for North Shore. Immediately after resuming Shore attacked, and Wallace again found the net. Then Everton livened up, and completely outplayed the.r opponents, Boyne, Love, and Robinson notcijag goals. The game tiros ended: Everton ...„..._ 4 North Shore „ * 2 Mr French was referee. SECOND DIVISION CHAMPIONSHIP. WON BY NORTH SHORE. North Shore defeated Tabernacle by 9 goals to 2. Stewart (4), Lockwood (2), Simpson, Woolley, and Brabant scored for the winners; while Churchill and Smeeton scored for Tabernacle. By winning this match the Shore are now three points ahead of the next team, with only one more match to be played, and thus cannot be displaced for championship honours. SECOND GRADE. Gordon (2) beat Brotherhood A (0). FIFTH. GRADE. Y.M-C.A. (18) beat St. James' (0). Jforthcote (3) beat Mount Eden (2). Bdendale won from Bexesfoid-sfcreet by' default. YJI.C.A. B (2) and Renroera (2) drew. Rovers (2) beat St_ Lute's CO. North Shore <T) beat Tabernacle (0% The scorers were Dacre (5), Renshaw, and Craig. ___________
