FRUIT AXD PRODUCE MARKET. HIGH PRICES RCX-IXG. There has been considerable activity In the fruit and produce markets during: tne week, and some estreme ipcicea ruled. ** l *l ly heavy supplies of potatoes tare reached the market during the week «i Hauroto, Enaerdale, and Turawera, the latter -vessel only bringing 300 sacks. These shipments cam-prise a'tjua'ntKy of seed. Bom* of inferior sample, and mostly Up-to-date variety.. The market is still firm, with a slight tip-ward tendency, owing to reiport9 to band that, the Common/wraJth —Government has removed the existing embargo from importing into Australia, but no confirmation is yet to band. The quality, especially of Canterbury-grown, is good. New potatoes are making *beir appearawc and unless there is an outlet iu Australia values of main crops .vtill jgradually faLl later on. Only 2MO bags of onions reached here ex Mafceno. and 105 bags from Canterbury. The markrt is cnn at priced quoted. All importations require picking over. 'Factory butter has oothp down I'd per lb. and formers' lines are still scarce. Fresh eggs are plentfrir! and values arc at The nijnininm for the season. Root crops and green vegetables are in full supply at low rates. Poultry "was penned in. large quantities, although the demand was good, and priees show hnt little clmnge on last quotations. Large shirrmonts of fruit came to h.itid durinc the week ex Maheno and Taravrera. Sydney consignments were more or less in had order, as wcrp also Ifolia-t apples in the early part of the week. The Tarawera landed ahont SHI cases from Tlir hart to-day in eTrellent order, and hijft priees iwcre obtained for che.iee coloured desserts. The Talnne brought a large cargo of OTfin™r-s and bananas from thp Islam!* The condition of orances was oaly moderate, and in some Instances very had.
