Mr. Justice Chapman hopes to return to Wellington at the end of next week. Major C. E. R. Mackesey, 11th (North Auckland) Mounted Rifles, has passed his examination in tactical fitness for command. Mr. H. Okey, M.P.. who returned to New Plymouth last week end, has since been confined to his room with a severe attack of influenza. Colonel Wolfe and Major Braithwaite. who have been in Wellington in connection with defence matters, have returned to Auckland. Mr. G. C. Collins. Government Auditor, who has been in Auckland for some time, in connection with the auditing of local bodies' books, has visited most of the surrounding country towns. Mr. Peter uilchrist. solicitor, of Te Aroha. has been admitted by Mr. Justice Edwards, on the motion of Mr. F. E. Sbera, as a barrister of the Supreme Court of New Zealand. The Rev. Herbert Reeve, who has been vicar of St. Sepulchre's Church for several years, has resigned to take up the cure of Christ Church, Wanganui, which has been offered him. Mr. Arthur Rickard, a well known Sydney land and estate agent, who arrived from Sydney by the Makura, intends to spend a month in the Dominion, which he ia visiting for the first time. He returns to Sydney via Tonga, Samoa, and Fiji. .Appreciative recognition was made yesterday at the meeting of the genera] committee of the Young Women's Christian Association of the generous and faithful services rendered by the late Mrs. Andrew Stewart for the past 2.5 years. It was resolved that a message of condolence be sent by the committee to the members of her family. Mrs. Kaye. of Christchurch. will arrive in Auckland on September Oth, and will spend a week here. Miss Kaye's splendid service is well known in connection with the Young Women's Christian Association and Presbyterian movements. On September ISth she will give a lecture on her impressions of the Y.W.O.A.'s which she visited on her trip to Europe and America last year. Mrs. Kaye represented New Zealand at the World's Y.W.C.A. Conference in Berlin, and also at the Edinburgh World's Missionary Conference.
