A SPANISH STUDENT, Another chapter In toe "Lover In a Wardrobe" romance was lurthcoming at the Old Bailey, London, on Wednesday, July 19. and the instalment ended in the approved to-be-continued fashion. Joaquin Rodrigo Peres, a young Spanish student, became acquainted with a Wimbledon gxr\ in Spain, followed her to London, and, after the birth of her child, obtained access to her father's house and concealed himself in a wardrobe. When Peres was discovered the girl's brother proceeded to eject him. Perez, it was alleged, attempted to flre a revolver at him. His trial on this charge at the previous session of the court was adjourned by Mr. Justice Darling.

On Wednesday the presiding judge, Mr. Justice Lawrence, was informed that it was now 'proposed to settle matters by marrying the girl to Perez. For that purpose it was necessary to write and get the consent of the father in Spain. A lette! had been sent, bat a reply had not yet been received. Hie Lordship: Is the fend to be made up by marriage?

Counsel: Yes, my lord. Connsci, on behalf of the accused, said he had been In prison since May 22. The marriage would lie legal under the Spanish law if be first received his father's consent. There had only been just time for a letter to be sent to the father and a reply received. If bis lordship would grant bail accused would be well taken care of. His Lordship: He is well taken care of now (Laughter.)

His lordship added that he would adjourn the case, and In the meantime consult Mr Justice Darling. He had received a letter from him on the case, and It had better go before him again. He understood several days would elapse before the present session concluded. Perez was probably comfortable Just now. (Laughter.)
