COLLIER AFIRE.

OFFICERS' NARROW ESCAPE. SYDNEY, August 11. A serious fire has occurred on the collier Wallarah, lying at Catherine Hill Bay. The chief officer (Mr. McConnachie) and the second officer (Mr. McGuire), who were sleeping over the locker containing the rockets, awoke to find the cabin full of flames. They made their escape, but McConnachie was seriously injured, and McGuire badly scorched. An explosion, caused by the fire reaching the rockets, took place. The crew subdued the fire after the vessel had been badly damaged amidships.
