Following upon the decision arrived at last Saturday at Waahi, when Mahuta unreservedly placed the Waikato native lands in the hands of Sir James Carroll, to deal with as decided by the Maoris, it was agreed on Monday by the owners of the Whare-Pohungu blocks, 18 and 17, to offer 7000 and 16,000 acres respectively for sale to the Crown at a minimum rate of 15/ per acre, which may be increased by the Government valuator should he decide upon their acquisition. Prom Waahi the Waikato Land Board members proceeded to Ngarunwahii to nttend the meeting of the owners of the Moerangi block of 46.000 acres. The Government has already purchased 11.000 acres of this block, which are situated in the middle, those portions on the east and west not having been allocated among the hapus concerned. Some of those interested wished to defer the sal? until the allocation had been made.
