! (Before Jir C. C. Kettle, S.M.) DEFENDED CASES. The ease of tho Acetylene G-as Lighting Co. r. ,T; M. Hops, formerly licensee o£ the Junction Hotel, Kawnkawa, was concluded at the .S.M. Court otter the "Star" went to press j-esterday afternoon. Plaintiffs claimed £7 10/, value of half a ton o£ carbide, lint defendant denied that he ordered the half ton in dispute. He Kettle gave judgment for plaintiffs for the amount claimed, with costs. Tony Milielch (Mr Prendergast) claimed from Ivan Jugovlch (Mr Moore) the sum of £2, money lent. Plaintiff's case was that he left £2.with Frank Frankovieh to li.iiiil over to Jugovich, the latter haying askod him for a loan. Frankovich did not ipuae.'Jihcr whether he gave the money to Jugovlch. or one Takich, but the latter stated Jugovich gof the £2. Judgment went for plaintiff, with costs. Hone Elizabeth Jackson -sued her father and mother, Joseph Phhix and Jane Phinx, lor recovery of certain household furniture which defendants refused to give possession of. Irtr Hackett represented plaintiff and Sir AYyman the defendant. A family ujfereneo had occurred because plaintiff, who was a younjt widow, married the second time n man the parents did not approve and went away to live with him, leaving a blind child with the mother and the furniture in tho house. On the suggestion of Mr Kettle counsel ■agreed to confer to amicably arrango" tho "inhttor. tvhd' the case was adjourned • (iil-Monday.-- - -" • • - The ClapTiam Gaslight Manufacturing and Agency Co., Limited (In liquidation) brought jm action against Alfred Tame for tlie recovery of £44, the amount of money alleged to have been received by him as a-ent for the' plaintiffs on the sale of the ition Waitangl. Mr Hill appeared for the .plaintiffs and Mr Denniston for defendants. Tlir> former said that Mr H. Claphnm, who was n director of the late company, owned n 'boiit called the Waitangi, and some tinio !n<!t year an agreement was entered into for the sale of the boat to the company. Subsequently the company went into liquidation nnd Mr Tahie- was Instructed by the llpnlrlntor Mr E. Gerard, to dispose of the reswl.
