TE AWAMTJTTT. The usual meeting of the Town Board Wa-s held on Thursday, Mr. C. . Bowden A letter was received, from the ' TJnder-Secretary of Lands,, stating that authority had been, received from ithe re sponsible Minister for the expenditure of '. the £200 grant for road-making purposes. A communication was. received from the Minister of Railways stating that the iwork of erecting a veramlaii at the railway station was to be commenced at once. Rates amounting to 3d in the pound were fixed for; ■the ensuing year. The-chairman reported | that the Government subsidy in connection with tlie erection of a band rotnnda. would not exceed £75. It was decided to go on Tvith the work. PAKURANGA. A very successful social was held in the Pakuranga Hall on Wednesday evening by the members aud friends of the Pakiiranpn Farmers - Union. Mr. John Fitzpatrick (president of the branch) occupied the chair. The business part of the meeting was snnn disposed of, and the evening was then devoted to music and dancing. Songs were rendered by Misses Gree and A. Webb, and' Messrs. E. Campbell, B. Thompson, P. Fairhurn; and G. Bell. Mrs. A, Hattawny • played a piano solo, and Mrs. J. Robert* a violin solo. >'
