CASTRO THE DICTATOR.
BACK IN VENEZUELA WITH A THOUSAND MEN. (Received 8.20 aim.) CARACAS, July 9. The Venezuelan Govern meat .states that ex-President Castro has Reached Western Venezuela at the head of ;1000 men. Cipriano Castro, nominally president and really Dictator of Venezuela, went to Europe three years ago in order to be operated upon by and the anti-Castro party toot advantage of the opportunity to depose him and to refuse him permission to re-enfer the Etepublic. He tried to ge tback via. the United States and Mexico, but was refused permission to land in the Western, Hemisphere. He was kept under obscrva fckin by the secret agones of Venezuela for Mmc timo, but cleverly gave them the eKp. A plot on his behalf was discovered', two yeaps ago, and it was then shown that he had advanced large sums of mor,«y for the collection of forces and armn on the coast. The leaders of the plot -were captured, some being imprisoned ana', the rest deported. It was announced las* month that Castro was aboard a German steamer in
Hayti Harbour, tat subsequently it was explained that this was a joke by the master of the vessel. There is a strong faction in Venezuela which supports Castro, and his arrival in the Republic will probably resuf'.k. in sonic severe fighting. The Venezuelan Government, by reorganising the companies in which Castro waa interested, red uced his millions invested there to a few thousands, but Castro was probably for this by making big invesiime.ats abroad.
