FAEKOA. The half-yearly instillation meeting of the Loyal Jubiiec Lodge of Oddfellows, afctJ.. was held on Mduday night, when P.G. Bro. W. The monthly meeting of the 'Paeroa Chamiber of Ooininerce was held last night, Mr. _B. W. Porritt presiding. A letter was received from .the Postal Department, reporting that they would not be able to construct the telephone wlrec from the ■Haurakl Plains to Paeroa. A committee •was appointed 'to wait on (Mt. H. Poland, M.P., to obtain his assistance in .this matter. It was decided to try to get the Ohln.emuri County re-valued. Several other small matters were discussed.

HUNTLY. On Monday evening a (welcome social was held in the Presbyterian Church for Mr Butler, the newly-established home missionary. Rev. GoW, Hamilton, presided over a crowded attendance. Addresses were delivered by Messrs Gow, Butler, Aahton, STankton, nnd Nichoils, Methodist Home Missionary, Huntly. An excellent programme was rendered by the following:—Messrs T. Cummack, J. Devlne, B. Klnson, J. Kinson; n quartet by Mrs and Miss Butler and Messrs J. Devlue and B. Kinson. 'Miss Butler gave a recitation, which evoked loud applause. Miss Starr presided at the organ. During the ey'ening an abundant supply of refreshments was handed round. Work on the Huntly bridge is going ahead, everything being in readiness, to start pilemaking as soon as the Government inspector arrives to supervise the work. All available places at the mines are filled up. a num.ber of men having been •turned away during the last two weeks. The quarterly cavel at the Extended mine takes place on Thursday, when it Is intended to transfer ten pairs of miners to Ralph's mine, where several new headings have been opened np. OTAHUHU. The annual social in connection with Holy Trinity Church was held In the Public Hall on Friday evening. The Rev. H. Mason presided, and there was a very large attendance. The stage was decorated with flags, etc. An excellent musical programme was rendered, as follows:—Overture, by the orchestra; song, Miss Carson; recitation, Mr H. 3. Gllmour; song. Miss Galloway; recitation. Miss Neyin; song, Mrs G. Toms; violin solo, Miss Gladys Dlsooinbe; song, Mr H. J. Gllmour. An ambulance display, restoring life to the apparently drowned, •was given by the Boy Scouts; tableau,

"Rule Britannia." The singing of the National Anthem concluded the musical part of the programme. Refreshments were then 'handed round, after which the floor was cleared for dancing. On Saturday evening, in the Hall, the annual distribution Of prizes in.connection •with Holy Trinity School took place.
