NAPIER, this day. In the Supreme Court to-day, John Young Hannay, charged with 'assault, and discharging a firearm with intent to do grievous bodily harm, was acquitted. In a case against Michael Tuohy, of a criminal assault on a woman, the Grown Prosecutor stated that the principal witness was recently married to prisoner, and as she declined to give evidence against her husband the jury were directed to return a verdict of "Not Guilty." CHRISTCHURCH, this day.
Contributions to the fund for the Coronation Memorial Home for Consumptives total fB3O so far, including two donations of £100 each and three of £50 each. WESTPORT, this day. In the Supreme Court to-day, F. C. Elliott, late local manager of the West-ford-Stockton Coal Company, was sentenced to. six months' imprisonment for the theft of £109, the company's monies. In bankruptcy an application to dis: charge E. Watson was refused, and W. G. Brosnahan was suspended for twelve months.
