WAIKATO SHEEP DOG TRIALS.

HAMILTON. Thursday. J trials under the auspices of the Waikato Association were continued at Lochiel, Ohaupo,. yesterday Theweather was not at all favourable" and'the attendance was somewhat disappointing, and if In future the Association desire to make their trials, popular with the public, they wiU either have to change the date of the trials or hold them somewhere within reasonable distance of civilisation. Th~ driving and. .yarding ' competition - com--menced yesterday..was .completed, 'and- -ahuhtaway Competition.was also he'd. Four dogs were entered In the latter, and' only" one completed the course; but the "judge did hot consider the performance worthy of an award. -In-the same event no prize was awarded, for the "dog making the ' "most noise.. -~. - - : -. The following ..are. the results:—Driving, and yarding: G. Waddingham's Darkle 23 "rpdihts, 1; Strawbrldge's Roy, 22J 2;' A. Fletcher's Belle, 22, 3. Three dogs tied for third place, and the run-off delayed mattersconslderably. - - The following .special prizes .were awarded:—Cup, value £15 15/, .for the dog scoring the .most. points throughout" the- trials, - A. "Fletcher's Belle; best heading dog, G. Waddingham's ' Ben;'--dog best under, A. Fletcher's- Belle;- best yarding "dog, G." Waddingham's Darkle; best driving dog, G. ; Waddingham's Ben, A.
