The Auckland Hockey Club met the Te Aw-anratu representatives at Victoria GPafk, Te Awamutu, on -Coronation Day, and defeated them toy five goals to nil. The first spell was of a fairly even nature and "well contested. The visitors made frequent ■ sorties in the home team's citadel, but only managed to score on *wo occasions. The latter set up a strong defence, and relieved the situation toy making several invasions into Auckland's territory, tout failed to put on the finishing touches. The visitors' first goal was the outcome of a fine passing boat, which enabled Doplne to put in a. good shot unhampered. Just before half-time Mason drew second blood with one of his characteristic shots. In the second spell Auckland "were seen to better advantage, as their organised movements counted (for more ..than the dashing display of Te Awamutu. Mason goaled again, after steering the ball •through the opposing backs, and Welham notched twice irom good strokes. Mr. ;F/mpson ■was an efficient referee. .■ LADIES'. HOCKEY. SENIOR GRADE.
