' " .. ■ .(Tcr tbe Eaitor.l Sir, —For some considerable time the residents of Waimauku district have been anxious to erect some kind of buildino , to provide for religious services as well as to supply accommodation for meetings, of a social orcfer. . To this end a committee has- Deeh set up, consisting of three gentlemen in the district, namely, Messrs. A. R. Frost, M. Adlingion, and J. D. Foster. These gentlenien nave Seen instrumental in collecting about "£B6, and following this, Mr.- -X C. Frost, being deeply interested in the welfare of the town arid diStrreti has offered a fine: freehold section in the township on condition that a certain amount of money be failed io 'greet the bunding. This • building will be under the direct control of the above gentleiner, who 'will act as trustees. The property will be held'solely for the benefit of all the residents. All denominations will .-have free .right to the use of the property and for religious .services it will be" free 61 charge. Sending it impossible to raiJSe the full ainb'Unt of money in the district, the committee Have. deerdedto give an opportunity to willing, helpers to spbscrfbe to this most worthy and laudable object, and we take of making a str.ong appeal to all interested -in the welfare of the social and religious advancement of the residents of Waimauku and snr-roonding-districts. As it is imperative fhat this work should be taken in hand right away So.. that t>ujlding operations may be •completed "before winter, as a special favour we ask those collecting fco use best endeavours to have all lists returned by the first 7 day of August. The_ 101 l owing testimony from one of the residents shows 'to a degree tße trend of matters: "It is a shame that in a Christian community there is not a bualdirig in this place that you can put your head into on ;a Suitftay. . Our yonng people are running wild and no one seems to care." Brothers and sisters, let us deny ourselves ajid stretch out a hand to brighten this spot.
