CAMBRIDGE. Tlie annual meeting of 'the local branch of the British, and Foreign Bible Society was held here on Monday evening, the Mayor (Mr <Jeo. Dickinson) presiding. Tb,e president (Yen. Archdeacon Willis) read a comprehensive paper on the subject of the introduction of the Bible in schools, advocating the adoption of an Australasian scheme of Bible readmg In schools, based c-n the New Sonth Wales system. Axchdeacon Willis was re-elected president, and Messrs Brooks and Marshall hon. treasurer and hon. secretary respectively. PUKEKOHE. A. meeting of the Pukebohe Town Board and iPukekohe West Road Board took place oa (Frfday, the chairman of the Puketohe Town Board (Mr Webster) presiding. The object of the -meeting =wns to come to some eqiiiutble arrangement for supplying poritioi} of the district outside tine town boundaries >with nroter, and an agreement was arrived, at wtici commends itself to fcoth boards. Tie near approach of the putting into operation of the Counties Act in Maiiukau County was a factor in causing the decision to be made in its present form, viz., that the boundaries of the town be extended, and that it be formed into a •borough. A committee, consisting of Messrs Webster (chairman) and H. Dell (representing -the Town Board) and Mr Walter Johns (chairman) and Mr Dunn (representing the ■Pukekohe West Board Board) was set up for the purpose of defining- the extended (boundaries, and to take steps as are necessary to further the scheme. The committee met- on Monday evening, and defined the boundaries. It was agreed that tihe petition necessary in accord wifih the Act i»e prepared, and ratepayers he invited to sign. PAPAKUBA. The monthly meeting of the Board was held on the 12th inst., JJr A. Willis presiding, and all the other mambers being present. The chairman reported that he had made inquiries about providing a show of moving pictures for the children on Coronation Day. The business before the Board was small, and resolved into a general ritsenssion on the question of the proposed loan, and the poll of ratepayers to be held on the 17th inst. The poll was taken, and carried by a larpe majority. 49 voting for and 17 against, the total number of votes east 'being 6fi. This is not maqy more than one-th|rd of the total number of ratepayers, ■but another third are absentee ratepayers, so that the total of votes given is coneidered satisfactory. The adjourned meeting -vv-as TiPld on tne 10th inst. -Mr Stewart being absent. A letter Tvas received from Mr P. Holt -with reference to the railway passenger nccoxninod-.'ition. and it was arranged to have fehe letter forwarded to the Wtnister of Railways. Mr Willis moved that the special rate of six thirteenths of a penny in the £ be now struck, to provide for the payinc of interest and principal repayment of the loan.
