SINGAPORE SHOOTING CASE.
TEE PRISONER'S EXPLANATION (.Received 10.50 ajn.) SYDNEY, this day. Details of the shooting of Steward, of Singapore, show that Mrs. Proudfoot stated that she was alone in her bungalow when Steward, a friend of the family, called and made violent advances. She seized a revolver and fired five shots into his body at close quarters. Steward is described as a quiet man. Bail in a thousand dollars was allowed.
