In an annual report to the Oroua Licensing Bench the police stated that with a population of 10,698 in the electorate there were 44 convictions for drunkenness during the past year, and of these 37 were persons from other centres. No females were arrested for drunkenness or for any other charge. No prohibtion orders against females had been issued. The new licensing legislation preventing persons under the age of 21 from being served with liquor had had a most beneficial effect, and 'the whole district had an excellent record.
