The Co__ty of Anglesea was 36 days on t_e passage from .Newcastle, and the Aldebaran 20 days, bnt the Marjorie Craig made an exceptionally good t—i from G—dong, covering the distance in 12 days. The County of Anglesea was recently pure—lsed by t_e Union Co., and will be converted, into a hulk for service at A—_—.ud, DKION COMPANY'S KANNA I LAUNCHED. j According to; aa ______ shippin_ exchange, Messrs _amage and Ferguson, of |lieit_, during Aprjl la_k_ed from their I shipyard the largest screw steel steamer constructed at the port of Leith for many years. The vessel was named Karma, by Mrs Paterson, of Wellington. The steamer lias been built to the order of the Union Company, and is Intended for the coastal cargo service. The Sauna has been bnllt to Lloyd's highest class, with single deck, deep frames, with poop, bridge, and topgallant forecastle. Captain and all officers have accommodation on the top of the bridge amidships, and arrangements, for working cargo are of the most complete description, eight steam winches being fixed, while warping winch on poop, steam steering gear, steam windlass, are also provided. There is also an elat—rsite system of electric lighting tbrougho—: the vessel. The Karma is a vessel of -000 tons gross regis ter." Triple expansion engim _ are fitted, having cylinders 2lin, 341n, and 56_. in diameter, by 3—n stroke, supplied with steam from two large steel boilers working at ISOlb.
