GOVERNMENT'S DEFENCE POLICY. (Received 10 a.m.) SYDNEY, this day. A deputation presented the Minister for Defence (Senator Pearce) with tho resolutions recently passed at a public meeting in favour of a more vigorous defence policy. Senator Pearce replied that the Government' was doing all it could. Tt intended to do all possible to push on adequate defence, but had bitten off just as much as it could chew. The Government had gone as far as, or further, than public opinion.
