West Chrtetchurch defeated East Christehurch by 48 runs on the llrst innings For the losers Slius gave an exhibition of excellent cricket, scoring IS4 not out. Edmonds assisted with 4S, but th e others were unequal u> the occasion. Linwood was beaten by Sydenham by 79 nine on the first innings. For Ldnwood, Beat, an ex-Otago player, was top scorer with 46, Thomas making 42. Sydenham's second lnumgs produced 155 for six wickets, Peterson, a promoted junior, making 78 by capital erickeU mjNBIMN. DUNEDIN, Saturday. The cricket matches were continued today in perfect weather. Opoho beat Uunedln by 11 runs on the first innings. Opoho made '.J2S and 77 for clx wickets, and l>uneuiu's total was 217, Eckhold limiting 05. Ciarlsbrook A defeated Grange by an Innings aid 53 runs. The former made 200 and Grange 04 iiud 53. Carlebrook B completed their llrst Innings agiiinst Albion, totalling 5.11 lAußtln 1.57, Watson IH6, Drumm 00), and Albion made 21(7 for eight wickets (W. Shepherd 75, K. Shepherd 07).
